Description of this position: This position will provide engineering manufacturing support at ATK's Small Caliber Systems facility at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri. Responsibilities include designing and troubleshooting of mechanical and interfacing electrical components of metal forming, assembly, inspection, and material handling equipment. Designs and implements machine modifications in support of production schedule requirements and quality/cost/efficiency improvements. Evaluates processes and equipment to verify performance (conformance and efficiency); investigates, develops and initiates corrective actions to assure successful problem resolution. Develops and modifies processes to attain full manufacturing capability through the use of proven techniques including statistical process control, design of experiment, and root cause failure analysis. Manages projects from concept to completion on time and within budget.

Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Skills and qualifications: This position requires a minimum of 5 years electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Also requires the following: 1) Working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC's (PLC 5, SLC 500, Micrologix, etc.); 2) Experience with I/O networking (Devicenet, Controlnet, Ethernet); 3) Experience with Allen Bradley Variable Frequency Drives; 4) Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment; 5) Experience with AutoCad and equipment/system control drawings; 6) Software development experience (Ladder Logic, Visual Basic). 7) Working knowledge of LabView software programming. Prefer experience with vision inspection, non-contact gaging and Hazardous Environmental Electrical Requirements.

This position requires the following:

1. Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
2. At least 5 years of experience in a high volume manufacturing environment.
3. Experience with LabView software programming.
4. Strong problem solving skills and understanding of and the ability to apply basic engineering principles.
5. The ability to communicate to a wide range of people using a variety of mediums.
6. Experience with AutoCAD.
7. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office applications.
8. The ability to manage multiple projects or tasks.
9. Training in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies a plus
